With the 2018 Winter Olympics now underway in Pyeongchang, South Korea, security forces have been conducting numerous terror drills near Olympic sites. Numerous Korean National Police SWAT Teams and ROK Special Forces units are some of the 60,000 members of the Olympic Security Force in charge of protecting the games over the next 2 weeks. The security drills have ranged from terrorists taking athletes hostage, attempting to ram vehicles into Olympic venues, to drones carrying explosives, and cyber attacks.
During the drills, SWAT & SF operators deployed their MARS Elevated Tactics Systems for responding to several different scenarios. The MARS was used to quickly access terrorist occupied rooms & offices on 2nd & 3rd floors at Olympic venues and/or the Olympic village, breaching and assaulting terrorist seized Olympic athlete buses, and providing snipers a clear vantage point and stable shooting position.
